  • SIRS is designed to protect aged care consumers from serious incidents.

  • Incident Management Systems (IMS) must be in place to prevent and manage incidents.

  • Eight types of reportable incidents must be reported to theAged Care Quality and Safety Commission.

  • Priority 1 incidents must be reported within 24 hours; Priority 2 incidents must be reported within 30 days.

  • Aged care workers must report incidents immediately and contribute to the safety and well-being of consumers.
